What Is Metronidazole?

Metronidazole powder is white or yellowish crystalline powder. The tablet is white or off-white. It tastes slightly odorous, slightly bitter and slightly salty. It is slightly soluble in ethanol, slightly soluble in water or chloroform, and very slightly soluble in ether.

How Should Metronidazole Be Used

1. Oral administration: One dose, calculated according to 1 kg of body weight: 60 mg for cattle, 25 mg for dogs.
2. External application: apply 5% ointment and rinse the urethra with 1% water.

Precautions For Metronidazole

(1) Mmetronidazole benzoate powder is less toxic. If the dose is too high, glossitis, gastritis, nausea, vomiting, leukopenia and even neurological symptoms may occur. However, in long-term application, animal liver and kidney function should be prevented.
(2) Metronidazole powder can pass through the placental barrier and mammary gland barrier, so it is forbidden for animals in the first trimester of pregnancy.
(3) Two days before the treatment of trichomoniasis with this product, adding penicillin can improve the therapeutic effect.
(4) This product has a risk of toxicity to some experimental animals.
