Product Introduction

Abamectin Powder is a macrocyclic lactone disaccharide produced by the fermentation of the soil bacteria Streptomyces avermitilis. It is a GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid) agonist, binding to glutamate-gated chloride channels on invertebrate nerve and muscle cells, leading to paralysis and death of target pests.

Technically it is a combination , at least 80 % Avermectin B1a and not more than 20 % Avermectin B1b . HPLC verifies every batch, as this ratio directly impacts bioactivity consistency.

The powder is essentially insoluble in water (<5 µg/L) but soluble in organic solvents such as methanol, toluene and acetone. This means it must be converted to EC or SC goods before field use.

Third-Party Test Report

Shaanxi Hongda partners with SGS and Eurofins for third-party certification. Testing includes for pesticide residues, particular optical rotation (for verification of stereochemistry), residual solvents, and heavy metals.

Abamectin Powder Application

Horticulture & floriculture (acaricide/insecticide): EC and SC formulations designed to manage two-spotted spider mites and leafminers on roses, strawberries and tomatoes. In high resistant greenhouse situations it provides both knock-down and residual activity within leaf tissue.

Veterinary antiparasitic (API use): Formulated into pour-ons, injectables and pastes for cattle, sheep and companion animals. For use against internal worms and external ectoparasites such as lice and mites. Veterinary-grade substance requires stringent impurity control per USP/EP pharmacopoeia standards.

Nematicide in broad-acre crops. Seed treatment or soil drench for cotton and soybeans to inhibit root-knot nematodes. The formulation must prevent the active molecule from microbial degradation long enough to cover the root zone during early crop establishment.

Production Process

Raw fermentation of Streptomyces avermitilis is done under controlled circumstances. In our 100,000 level purification workshops, the fermentation broth is subjected to solvent extraction, filtering and crystallisation.

Moisture, particle size and contaminant levels are checked at each stage. Loss on drying is checked before Packaging, and final B1a/B1b ratio is confirmed by HPLC assay. The resulting powder is packaged in double-layer PE bags with fibre drum outer packing under inert circumstances to avoid UV exposure and moisture uptake.

Abamectin Powder Advantages

Extreme potency at little dose. Application rates are in grammes per hectare, not kilograms – decreasing transportation costs and overall chemical burden relative to standard insecticides.

Translaminar activity The active chemical penetrates leaf cuticles and generates a reservoir in leaf tissue. This gives residual control of leaf miners and spider mites that hide on the undersides of leaves. These pests can be missed by contact-only pesticides.

Resistance management device. It is classified as Group 6 (IRAC ) and provides a different mode of action from organophosphates, pyrethroids and carbamates. This makes it a viable rotation partner for integrated pest management programmes.

Short life span on the surface. Half-life on plant surfaces is <24 hours in sunshine. Residues are rapidly degraded, allowing for short pre-harvest intervals and minimal disruption of beneficial insects after the spray has dried.

FAQ

Q1: Is this product water soluble?

A: Not at all. Our product is lipophilic and almost insoluble in water. For field use, it must be formed into EC or EW emulsions using organic solvents and surfactants.

Q2: How do we store it so it does not degrade?

A. Keep in opaque barrels or aluminium foil packs. Fast photolysis by UV exposure. Store in a cool dry place with moisture below the ≤1.0% limit to prevent hydrolysis.

Q3: Can it be mixed with alkaline pesticide?

A: No. The lactone ring breaks down rapidly at pH over 7. Do not mix with alkaline goods such as Bordeaux mixture or lime sulphur as this causes breakdown and loss of action.

Q4: What is the difference between technical grade and veterinary grade?

A: The active molecule is the same. Veterinary grade requires more stringent impurity control, lower residual solvent limits and GMP compliance under USP or EP pharmacopoeias. Technical grade meets standards of FAO for use in crop protection.

Q5: How do you handle pest resistance with this compound?

A: Rotate with different mode of action groups such as METI acaricides or insect growth regulators. Apply in limited quantities for long-term effectiveness (2–3 times per season).
