Azelaic Acid Powder is a saturated dicarboxylic acid (C9H16O4) prepared from the ozonolysis of high quality vegetable-derived oleic acid. It is found naturally in cereals like barley, wheat and rye.

In the manufacture of dermatology and personal care it operates in two different ways: by reducing the growth of Propionibacterium acnes and Staphylococcus epidermidis, and by specifically limiting tyrosinase activity in hyperactive melanocytes.
