What Is Freeze Dried Barley Grass Juice Powder?

Freeze Dried Barley Grass Juice Powder is a premium nutraceutical ingredient produced from the newly harvested young barley leaves. The grass is cold-pressed to remove the nutrient-rich juice, leaving behind the insoluble cellulose fibre completely. Then that juice is lyophilized, under vacuum, at sub-zero temps.

This is essentially different from spray drying. Spray drying employs high heat, which destroys enzymes, chlorophyll and vitamins that are heat sensitive. Freeze drying avoids any of that harm.

Q1: What’s the difference between the product and normal barley grass powder?

A: Juice powder is formed by taking the extracted liquid, removing the fibre, and freeze drying it. It is 100% soluble and has about 20 times more nutrients per gramme. Regular barley grass powder has insoluble cellulose and reduced bioactive density.

Q2: Why does the powder sometimes form clumps in the packaging?

A: Clumping is a sign of purity. Without fibre as a flow agent, natural plant sugars will concentrate and attract moisture. Store in a cold and dry place. Use high quality desiccants and ALU foil moisture barrier packaging.

Q3: How can I know if the product is freeze-dried and not spray-dried?

A: Freeze-dried powder has a porous microscopic structure, lighter bulk density and a greater SOD activity that can be measured. High SOD retention and bright green colour are clear evidence that no heat-drying technique has been applied.
