Boswellia Serrata Powder is a standardised phyto-extract obtained from the oleoresin of the Boswellia serrata tree, also known as Indian Frankincense. The bioactive chemicals are pentacyclic triterpenes known as Boswellic Acids and these include 3-O-acetyl-11-keto-beta-boswellic acid (AKBA) and 11-keto-beta-boswellic acid (KBA).

Production Process

The raw material is the starting point of Hongda extraction process. The oleo-gum resin from Boswellia serrata is obtained, assayed for activity and processed by solvent extraction with regulated methanol/hexane residue levels.

Then the extract is concentrated, filtered and spray-dried in a 100,000-level purification workshop. Milling is controlled to attain 95% through 80 mesh. Final batches are checked for Boswellic Acid concentration (Titration), Microbiological Safety, Heavy Metals and Pesticide Residues before Packaging in double-layer PE bags inside fibre drums.

Q2. What is the difference between Titration and HPLC to estimate the Boswellic Acid content?

A: Titration is a test for total organic acids and generally comes in at higher numbers (65% or so). Individual Boswellic Acids such as KBA and AKBA are quantitated using HPLC. A 65% titration may correlate to about 40% active acids on HPLC. * Please indicate how you want the test done for precision formulations.

Q3: The powder is stated as water insoluble – can it be used in beverages?
