Product Introduction

This Echinacea Purpurea Powder is prepared from either the aerial parts (herba) or roots (radix) of Echinacea purpurea depending on the desired phytochemical profile. The aerial parts are richer in Chicoric Acid and polyphenols, whilst the root-derived material includes larger concentrations of Alkylamides – the substance responsible for the characteristic tongue-tingling sensation.

The final powder is a fine free flowing brown-yellow powder with a faint aromatic odour and slightly bitter taste. Available in both water soluble grades (for beverages) and ethanol extracted grades (for higher potency softgels) it gives your formulation team real flexibility at the development stage.

Q1: What’s the difference between root powder and aerial part powder?

A: Root extracts have larger quantities of alkylamides, while the aerial parts contain more chicoric acid and polyphenols. It is contingent upon the functional claim you are building.

Q2: How is adulteration identified in this extract?

Q: How does Hongda determine the composition of the herbal products? A: Hongda use HPTLC fingerprinting in comparison with botanical reference standards. The lack of Chicoric Acid bands or the presence of alien peaks is a sign of adulteration.

Q3: How stable is the powder in hot beverage applications?

A: We have grades with heat stability. However, Chicoric Acid breaks down over prolonged exposure to boiling water. You want to add the powder at below 80C or in microencapsulated form.

Q4. What is the storage condition recommended?

Q: How to store? A: Store in cool, dry and dark place, in sealed packing, below 25°C. Under these settings, shelf life is 24 months. The phenolic stability should be rechecked at 12-month intervals.
