Product Introduction

Beta-carotene (β-Carotene) A lipid soluble terpenoid pigment and the major provitamin A precursor. Once ingested, the body turns it to retinol to improve vision, immunological function and skin health.

Pure beta-carotene crystals are extremely unstable. They oxidise fast when exposed to light, heat or air. Hongda’s Beta Carotene Powder solves this problem with advanced microencapsulation technology (spray-drying or beadlet creation). The active carotenoid is included in a protective matrix by employing carrier such as gum acacia, modified starch or gelatine.

The approach yields a cold-water dispersible (CWS) powder which resists oxidative deterioration, eliminates "colour bleeding" in solid dosage forms and allows for homogeneous incorporation into aqueous systems like beverages – significant difficulties for formulators in food and supplement manufacture.

Q1: What’s the difference between 10% and 20% product?

A: The percentage is the concentration of active beta-carotene of the microencapsulated powder. A 20% product has more efficacy per gramme and is appropriate for high-concentration supplement formulations. The 10% version is recommended for food colouring and beverage applications when a lower dosage and more subtle colour are desired.

Q2: Is your beta carotene synthetic or natural?

A: We have both of them. Natural vs. Synthetic Identification Report available upon request from our third party testing partners (SGS or Eurofins).

Q3: Can the powder be dispersed into water without separation?

Q: Yes. CWS (cold-water soluble) microencapsulated form will dissolve uniformly in aqueous systems. It stops the separation of oil and the typical ‘ringing’ effect found in drinks with oil-based beta-carotene.
